
Candice Shaughnessy (she/her) is a New York based voice teacher and vocal performer. Her performance experience spans many genres including opera, choral music, new music, and musical theater. She has performed on stages in the United States, Canada, and Italy.
Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Candice holds a Bachelor of Music in Education from Seton Hill University and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Duquesne University.
As a voice teacher, Candice specializes in applying scientific ideas in vocal pedagogy to real life use for professional singers. She has studied vocal health with Elle Nichelle of Vocalab, classical vocal technique with David Jones, and is working towards her full certification in Meisner in Music. In addition, Candice is trained in adjacent philosophies such as Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and Teaching English as a Second Language. One of her other adjacent passions is educating singers on sound business practices so they can lead successful and sustainable lives in the arts.
Currently, Candice serves on the voice and business of the performer faculties at American Musical and Dramatic Academy, and performs as a professional core soprano in the Rutgers Presbyterian Church choir in the Upper West Side.
