Do you ever have this thought after seeing someone sing on stage?

“I wish that was me.”

If so, you have come to the right place.

Welcome to the voice studio of Candice Shaughnessy.

Singing may involve some talent, but more than that it requires hard work and dedication to building a skill set. If you are ready to dedicate your time and energy, I am here to help you build your singing skill set. I currently teach as a member of the voice faculty at American Musical and Dramatic Academy, and I maintain a private studio online and in Manhattan.

Student Testimonials

“…one thing I will always take with me and engagement of my legs and core when I’m belting. I use it so much today and it feels great and healthy. I also love that you always told me to sing something in a way that’s comfortable for you and not to try to sound like anyone but yourself.” - Aundre, Performer

“Candice was my first ever vocal teacher, and my voice became all the better after working with her! I wouldn't have been able to not only hit the correct notes, but also learn about the many development milestones my voice was going through without her. The foundations she teaches of warming up and paying close attention to vocal cord and diaphragm movement will 100% set you up for success!” - Jolé, Actor and Creative

“Candice taught me it was okay to embrace the darker tones and rock aspect of my voice, instead of trying to fit me into a cookie cutter mould.” - Jonathan, Performer

“Candice is so much more than a voice teacher; since our first lesson in 2019, she has built my confidence in more ways than one, and it’s freeing to know that I can bring any piece to her because of the supportive environment of her studio.” - Annika, Performer

“Candice helped me get out of my own head. My head voice has gotten so much stronger and I feel more confident in my auditions and in my singing in general. She also helped me relearn how to sing in a healthy way after a medication caused throat pain and swelling. She’s the type of voice teacher that teaches you the inner workings of your voice and how you’re using it as well as strengthening your voice overall. She’s an amazing teacher and I love working with her!” - Kaitlyn, Performer

“ …Class with her is never boring because just when you think you've mastered everything she's taught you she pulls out a new lesson, trick or new technique to try out. I use the many warm ups she's taught me before every audition. She's my constant and one of the best voice teachers I've had!” - Karla, Performer

“In the short time I had the privilege of being Candice’s student, she was able to teach me a plethora of things that I could use not only in my career but as well as everyday life. Through her teachings, I was able to grasp the idea of how to support my sound and how to go about using my mixed voice which has always been an area that was incredibly daunting for me. She offers endless encouragement and always makes lessons exciting and something to look forward to. I’d constantly be surprised at the new information she was feeding to me and also shocked at how effectively she was able to explain certain concepts. Academics aside, Candice has often times recognized certain things about my well-being just through hearing my voice. She pays attention to her students and does whatever she can to recenter your energy so you can focus on the things that are important to you. Most importantly, she taught me the value of organization and professionalism which has most definitely helped me in multiple areas of my life. A lot can be said about how she teaches and what she teaches and I refuse to think of her as solely an educator because in my experience, she’s been much more. She was a mentor and often times a life coach and I couldn’t ever thank her enough for all the knowledge she’s passed on to me.” - Qiana, Performer
